Local Transportation

Update June 2018Please note that this information might be out of date as we haven’t had time to check and rewrite it. To get the latest and best tourism information, please consider staying at Sari Inn where our manager Hamy would be happy to take care of you. Hamy worked for the Lombok Tourism commission for twenty years and drove for the former presidential family. He speaks good English and remains one of the top experts on the area.

When visiting the island there are many options for transportation. Local buses are very crowded and can get very hot. Therefore visitors should look to see if their accommodation has transportation options.

Walk

Kuta is easy to get around on foot but if you want to venture to the beaches and other attractions outside of the town, consider one of the other transportation options below.

Motorbike / Scooter Rental

Visitors can also get around locally* on a motor bike. Bikes can be rented locally for about $5 a day. Your bike will come filled with petrol which the renter is responsible to fill upon return. You are not required to wear a helmet in Kuta, however it is suggested that you do. You do need an international license to use a motor bike.

Private Driver

The easiest way to get around is to hire a private driver and car.

Sari Inn guests can hire a car and driver for full or half day trips to local beaches, surfing spots and other tourist activities outside Kuta.

Cars can also be rented in the nearby town of Mataram.

*Local riding is easy enough with not too much traffic, however, the road to the capital city of Mataram is heavily congested and challenging to all but the most experienced riders. We do not suggest you try to ride to Mataram.
