The island of Lombok in Indonesia is a small one. In a day or two you can ride from one end to other. This is wonderful for those visiting the area as you do get a chance to really see paradise from all angles. From the best spots to surf to some of the oldest buildings and best pearls, when you rent a motorbike, you can see it all.

Types of Motorbike Rentals

The type of bike that you will want to rent will depend on how much travel you plan to do. If you are adventurous and like to explore then you may want to book a several day rental. This way you can come and go as you please watching the sunrise or the sunset from different points in Lombok. However, if your idea of holiday is your toes in the sand and a good book, perhaps consider just renting a motorbike for one day of shopping or sightseeing.

Whatever type you decide will work best for your trip it is wise to speak with your hotel about storing the motorbike safely. Some hotels have a connection with local rental places to that you do not have to worry about where the bike is when you are dining or resting.

Motorbike Rentals on Lombok

Many of the bikes which are available are automatic transmission. For those who are more adventurous there are some pretty tricky roads on Lombok which are not paved and therefore renting a manual transmission model may help you navigate better.

Some of the common motorbikes available include:

  • Honda Vario Techno
  • Honda Spacy
  • Honda Vario
  • Honda Megapro
  • Honda Revo

Many of the bikes come with:

  • Extra Locks
  • Two Mirrors
  • Safety Front Brakes

You will have to have:

  • Helmets
  • Long pants when riding through rough terrain
  • Bungees to tie down your rucksack

Be sure that no matter what length of time you rent a motorbike for or who you rent it from, you always have the paperwork for the rental with you. It is advised that travelers here have ridden before. The traffic and the parking make it tough for newbies to navigate. Additionally, having an international motorbike license will come in handy, but is not necessary.
